Peter Fletcher in Concert In-Person
Join us in the Assembly Room on Thursday, November 20th, from 4:30 - 6:00 pm for a special concert, "Music of Four Centuries," with guitarist Peter Fletcher.
Fletcher is an American classical guitarist based in Detroit and New York City. His recordings on the Centaur Records and Towerhill Recordings labels have been critically acclaimed, and he is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music.
"Music of Four Centuries" is an audience friendly, solo recital including repertoire that runs the gamut from the Renaissance Period through the 20th Century.
This program features Bach’s Third Lute Suite and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring; Prelude and Allegro by
Spanish lutenist Santiago de Murcia; Variations on a Theme by G. F. Handel’s “The Harmonious
Blacksmith” by 19th Century Italian guitarist and composer Mauro Giuliani; Spanish guitarist and
composer Francisco Tárrega’s extraordinarily beautiful Capricho Araby; and Barcarole and Danza Pomposa
by Polish composer Alexandre Tansman.
Fletcher is especially excited to perform Simple Gifts, a traditional Shaker hymn arranged for guitar by
guitarist Christopher Parkening.
All ages are welcome and no registration is necessary. We recommend an early arrival, however, since seating is limited.
